Slight, Demi, or Bold?

Hello all!
So I was going to write a piece about the different fashion trends this fall, but then I stumbled upon Levi's new line of jeans which are called Curve ID. Over the years, the people at Levi's have gathered information on the different types of shapes of women. According to them there are three main types:
Slight - The slight curve is for women who's pants fit along the legs but are too tight around the waist. Levi's has created jeans with balanced size and placement of the pockets. The side seam is straighter making it more comfortable for the slight curve body types.
Demi - This is for women with a little more curves. It is for the body type where the waists fits but doesn't flatter. Levi's solution is to form the waistband perfectly and slightly curved side seam.
Bold - If the jeans usually fits along the leg, but gaps in the back around the waist, this is the solution for you. The bold curve option is for curvier women. This type has a higher back rise, flattering your bum and stops the waist from gapping. Both the waist band and side seam are curved to flatter in the best way possible.

If you are not sure which type you are you can take Levis' quiz. It's not hard, just a few questions about you and your jeans.

Red, Red, Red

In this time of worse weather and needing to wear more clothes, it is always fun to find new things in your closet. I for one just found a nail polish, which I had no idea I even owned.
During the fall months I think its fun to add some splash of color, for example the accessories. Add a brightly colored bag or cool shoes. Or you can just brighten up your make up, maybe even your nails. Now, my choice: a fabulous crimson red nail polish called Rouge Rogue by Mavala.
I've searched the web for a picture of it or even if it's sold anywhere, and apparently it is old enough to not leave a trace behind. The picture below is of an unknown nail polish, but it has almost the exact same color of mine, so here it is:
So there it is. I'm sorry the nail polish is nowhere to be found, but I just had to mention it.

Flowery Ballet

When I was researching clothes for my fashion piece on Nina Garcia's closet basics, I found these cute Nicole Magical flower ballet flats in brown. For example, they would look great with a pair of adara blue skinny jeans.

M is for Marilyn

Last week 16 "new" Marilyn Monroe pictures taken by photographer Eve Arnold were "found" at a gallery in the U.K. A few of them will be sold, starting at $545, and I'm guessing the others will be displayed at the gallery, called Castle Galleries. A couple of the images are color, while the others are black and white and some are from the set of The Misfits. Taken from an article from stylist.com, Katie Hintz-Zambrano wrote,

"In the oldest set of intimate images, Monroe is photographed on a trip to small-town Bennet, Ill., where she was the guest of honor at the inauguration of a museum dedicated to her idol, Abraham Lincoln. The black-and-white images include one of her from behind, fixing her famed locks at the Chicago airport's public restroom, and two others of her lounging around her hotel room in a pretty white eyelet dress with a boatneck collar. The pair of color pictures from 1955 include a pensive Monroe on a plane to Illinois and a vampy image taken in Long Island, NY, where the then 29-year-old Monroe crawls on her belly through high grass while wearing a sexy strapless leopard-print dress. The pictures Arnold took five years later (and two years before Monroe infamously sang "Happy Birthday, Mr. President") mostly focused on candids of Monroe working on the Nevada set of "The Misfits," where she dons high-waisted denim, jean jackets, button-down tops, wide-brimmed hats, and plaid pants along with a more feminine polka-dot dress."

There are thousands of pictures of the iconic actor, and more and more just keep showing up, not that I'm complaining. I think Marilyn Monroe was amazing and I respect the fact that she had such influence in the fashion world. Here are four of the pictures found:

In all the photos you can see her signature make-up with heavy lashes, thick eyeliner, and painted lips, which still makes an impression on the red carpet celebrities. She will always be a true beauty icon.

Pretty Basic

Hello everyone! This morning I read an article which talked about Nina Garcia's book, The Little Black Book of Style (unfortunately I do not own it nor have I read it yes). The piece was about how to find your own style, and somewhere in between the paragraphs on finding your own style, there was a section on the basics of a closet. And taken from the book here is Nina Garcia's closet basics, which I have tried to put together in the picture above.
  • The little black dress: For example Alexander Wang's leather halter neck tux dress. You can buy it at Brown Fashion,
    http://www.brownsfashion.com/
  • Classic white men's shirt: Here I just took a Burberry Brit washed cotton shirt, which does not have a collar, but works well with a trench coat and a pair of jeans. http://www.matchesfashion.com/
  • Cashmere cardigan/turtleneck: Because I am not a fan of turtlenecks, I decided to go with a simple one colored cardigan, like Joseph's V neck cardigan. It works well with the washed cotton shirt, and I like the fact that it has some color to it, instead of just being plain black or grey.

  • A trench coat: A very stylish outerwear, which works in many different colors and with a lot of different looks. The one I chose was a black Burberry shower-proof gabardine trench coat which can be found at

  • Denim: Denim will never be out of style. A pair of jeans can be mixed with almost anything, and using accessories you can either make it or break it... These Billie Jean Skinny Denim will definitely help create your style.

  • A man's classic watch: I chose the Armitron Men's Dress Gold-tone Brown Leather Strap watch because I like the "vintage" feeling, with the brown leather strap and the gold. Very nice! It can be found at
    http://www.endless.com/
  • Diamonds: They sure do not come cheap, but they are a girls best friend. According to Nina it is something you should have in your jewelry box. And besides, with a diamond necklace you will feel a little more confident in that ball gown. Maybe this is the lucky necklace?

  • Ballet flats: I took that quite literally when I found these pink suede Jeffrey Campbell Street ballet flats,
    http://www.lorisshoes.com/
  • A classic high-heeled pump: When I read classic and pump "Prada" (I know, pricey, but they are simply gorgeous!) just popped up in my head, so I looked for simple black Prada pumps and I found this one,

  • A great bag: This is the last piece on the list and of course a fashion "must have". A great bag can enhance your outfit from a nay to a yay, which can help most of us from time to time. I was searching the web and found this Alexander Wang diego leather bucket bag which I thought looked almost timeless,

I hope this was a nice little first post and maybe it was at least a little helpful...
